Philosophy of Chiropractic

Chiropractic is based on the fact that your body operates on a set of principles that are stored in your brain and expressed over your nervous system. Your spinal cord carries messages up and down the spine and the spinal nerves carry messages from your spine to the rest of your body and back again.

The nervous system is extremely complex and is but poorly understood by even the most knowlegable neuroscientists but we do know that it is the one system that controls all of your other systems. The brain is encased in the skull for protection and the spinal cord is protected by a column of bones called vertebrae. The spinal nerves pass out of the cord and to the rest of your body through small holes between the vertebrae. When one or more of these verterbrae misalign and put pressure on the nerve root, this disrupts the flow of information to the organs, muscles and glands. This is called a subluxation.

Chiropractors are specially trained to find and correct these subluxations, thus allowing your body to work as it should.

Chiropractic is not a treatment of injury or disease. It is not an alternative to medicine or anything else for that matter. It is simply about removing inteferences to the proper working of your body. Your body is designed to be healthy and relies on the nervous system to govern it. Correcting subluxations allows a more proper flow of information through the nervous system.
